Morro Bay

To break the driving from LA to San fransisco, we decided to stay the night in a tiny little place right next to Highway 1, called Morro Bay. We arrived late at night when it was dark, so we had no clue what it looked like, but were pleasantly surprised in the morning; Morro Bay is a lovely little village with a small port. It is named after a giant rock on the beach: Morro Rock. As it looked so pretty we decided to hang around for an extra hour and take a little boat tour. It was very early in the morning, we took the first tour available. Probably the other tourist were still nicely tucked in in bed, so we ended up having a private tour by a nice guide who knew absolutely everything about the ocean and its life above and below water surface. He threw out some food so we’d attract fish to see through the glass bottom. We were very lucky and saw some sea otters, a big seal and many fish. Of course the fish food was also very wanted by the seagulls and pelicans. On the glass bottom of the boat there was more life attached than I could ever have found out myself: together with the guide I found some roundworms and other weird mussels attached to the side of the boat. One mussel opened itself showing beautiful colours in the shape of a heart. Never saw the romance of a mussel!! A pity we couldnt stay longer...
