After the surfing we stayed on the beach untill quite late in the afternoon. We then drove to the centre of Huntington Beach to get some seafood and do some shopping. Even though we date February and it doesnt feel that hot on the beach, the sun is quite strong and left us sun-burnt. When we finally arrived home at about 8pm, we had exactly 30 mins to shower and get ready to go out for the night. The plan was to go to Hermosa Beach and have Cajun food first, then to go to Pitcher House where there was a gig by a Pearl Jam Tribute Band called Vitalogy. The singer, Diego, is a good friend of some of the Italians that I went surfing with. So most of us met at CalTech, to split up in several cars and drive out to Hermosa Beach. Me and Olive drove with Diego and his girlfriend. Los Angeles is a giant city, and even if you think you know how to get around there, one small mistake like a wrong exit can make you get very very lost. Thats exactly what happened to us. Being in the car with the singer of the band, I knew I would not miss anything from the concert, no matter how many hours we would spent in finding our way back. Thankfully, it turned out not to be that big of a disaster and we made it to the Cajun restaurant. With our stomachs full of frog legs, shark soupe and alligator tails, we had a good but quick dinner, ready to go to Pitcher House. The band blew us all away! Martina and Olive were hopping around all night long (dont know where they found the energy!!!) and Vitalogy seemed to have a whole lot of fans there. Please go check out Vitalogy at www.vitalogyband.com, they got some samples you can listen to. Vitalogy plays several gigs a month, but those in Europe will either have to go to California or hope the band will make it to Europe soon. Thirsty from the salt water, I had a few beers, some Heineken.

As thats not exactly my favo beer, the bartender eventually let me go through his fridge, to find some bottles of another brand I might like better. On the very bottom shelf of the fridge, I found 2 bottles DUVEL!! All excited with having found this treasure I returned to the others, and let them all try our Belgian proud. Especially Craig seemed to like it very much; leaving my bottle alone on the table for a moment turned out not to be a good idea, as it was empty when I came back the very next minute... Good thing I found 3 in that fridge! When we finally got Martina in the car that night - she was still hopping around on the parking lot whilst all of us were totally knackered sitting ready in the car - we all agreed it had been a long but great day.
